Develop another part of your Jiu-Jitsu game with our No Gi classes.
No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is practiced without the traditional kimono, focusing on submission grappling with a unique set of rules. This competition format is gaining popularity worldwide. While the core principles of jiu-jitsu are shared between gi and no-gi, there are key differences, especially in grips. To master a complete jiu-jitsu game, practitioners should train in gi and no-gi techniques.
In no-gi, students must adapt to new grips since collar, sleeves, and pant legs are unavailable. Techniques like spider guard are less effective without these grips, so students learn to use underhooks, overhooks, collar ties, and wrist controls. This adaptation enhances your understanding of controlling an opponent using different “handles” on the body.
The training is fast-paced, cardio-intensive, and emphasizes fluidity and precise technique. The dynamic nature of no-gi can contrast with the slower, more deliberate pace often found in gi grappling, offering a different yet equally enjoyable experience.
